Group Names Change on Reassignment?

Post by StrongHarm »

I'm wondering if there's a work around for a minor annoyance I'm experiencing. I like to name my air groups very descriptively with octets (like IP addresses) ie AAW.F15.NORTH.01. The problem I'm having is that if I unassign that group from a mission and assign to a different mission, the group name is lost and replaced with an 'auto name'. Is there any way to prevent this?

Is this intended functionality? Does anyone find it useful when the group name is purged after mission reassignment? Does it help you organize more easily, or do you find it to be an annoyance as I do?

I must admit that I haven't noticed that.

I'd like to have the option to turn this behavior off in game settings.

The random names do look more like military callsigns than "Group_xx" does, but if a player wants groups to have specific names to help with organization it is kind of annoying to:

hit R
select the current group name, Control-C to copy
assign the group to a mission
hit R
select the random group name, Control-V to put the preferred name back.
