PBEM++ problems when testing...

Post by washedprison »

Before playing a PBEM++ game with a friend, I wanted to test the system to see when turn exchanges would be happening and how the system worked.

To do this, I logged in under my PRIMARY USER account (which was created a few weeks ago), and issued a password-protected challenge.

Then, to test the system, I created a second account by going to the "Register" page, and entering a name (just my primary name with #2 at the end), and a different e-mail address to distinguish the account. It went through a few steps, and created the account, yay! I looked under "current games" and saw the challenge I issued under my primary account... so I accepted the challenge.

At this point, I learned something... looks like the turn bounces back to player 1 after challenge acceptance, so they can do the pre-game setup. I had though that pre-game setup was done as part of starting the game.

But here's the BIG problem: I now cannot log into PBEM++ under my PRIMARY username, the name that created the challenge! It says "Serial number non-existent".

I can log in under account #2, but it just says "game is awaiting player 1". who can't log in.....

I'm guessing that the game somehow "tied" the serial number to my second account, when it should have been attached to my primary account. Is the PBEM++ serial number unique per licensed copy, or to a hardware ID? Its possible that I created my primary account on a different PC, or different install of Steam.

ANY HELP is appreciated!! I have a PBEM game with a friend starting in only a day, and want to be able to use my primary account!

Thanks!!
