This is a view of Bac Lieu and you can see two turns worth of broken bridges and I've got prescious few resources to deal with it. Not very many of the ARVN divisions are active from one turn to the next so I can't count on them for any ongoing operations. What I think I'll do is spread them out, park them on bridges and use them for outposts. Break them down into pieces for more bridge coverage.

I've been googling the location of the aircraft during the war so I can park them where they were based during the actual conflict and I've hit a gold mine for F-100's. This is the list of squadrons that were at Phan Rhang AB, RVN during the war. I'm going to try to look up all of them. I'll post what I find so I can refer to it later.

I've found some information about the 3rd TFW and the squadrons that flew F-100's and where they were based.

Turn 2
The doomed ARVN Regional Force Militia holding Khe Sanh are overrun near the northern DMZ by 308th NVA Division and the US and ARVN air capability hits the NVA hard during Larry's turn as well as interdicting successfully during mine as one of my two rail repair units utilised to repair and improve the Ho Chi minh supply trail in this scenario is wiped out. Not good.
Elsewhere as Larry has turned possession borders off he is evidently finding it harder to locate VC assets so I decide not to be so proactive with disbanding them which results in VP's showing a +2 to the VC/NVA this turn.
Larry has gone big with an early commitment of US troops again with Marine,Air and artillery assets all called up which should push the EEV levels up...I await the protests in Washington

This is turn 3 in the delta; notice if you will that there's multiple broken bridges all done by only a few VC units. They escape into Cambodia or disband themselves before I can kill them. I only get to attack one when I find it by accident. And I need to search and destroy to find them. Somehow the "No Borders" option got turned ON and the border doesn't give me a clue any longer. So I've got to be constantly moving, constantly searching for the bad guys because I won't know they are near until they overrun a village or break a bridge, etc.

RE: CSV try II Ian is NLF larry is Allies csv_lgf_v1.0.sce
IIRC the NVA has some arty that has a range longer than any of the arty tubes that I have so I'm forced to pull everybody back into the interior of South Vietnam just a bit further. I'm pulling back to just north of Da Nang to entice Ian into invading the north part of the country and the two RUFPUF units that can't move are just collateral damage. So sorry. There's one candidate VC unit on the HCM trail and I can't decide whether or not to bomb it. Last time I bombed it I lost a plane and didn't get any hits. D'oh. I'm toying with the idea of bombing one of the bridges of the HCM trail to drop it to delete the flow of supply flowing south. I'm assuming that there's other supply points for the NLF further south somewhere. Phnom Penh, Cambodia or somewhere.

RE: CSV try II Ian is NLF larry is Allies csv_lgf_v1.0.sce
Here's a team of weapons mechanics at Da Nang loading a rocket pod under the left wing of an F-4B. This plane is from VMFA-513 and they are carrying the war to the enemy with two, sometimes three flights a day reguardless of the weather.
I used to drive the MJ-4 bomb lift truck, in this picture it's the Marine equivalent but it's the same piece of equipment I drove. I developed a lower back problem after about a year from leaning over the steering wheel to try to see the hooks on the bomb rack so I could line them up with the lugs on the bomb. When I worked on the alert pad we got so good at loading that we could load on one nude A-37 two 500lb bombs, two rocket pods with 19 Willy Peet ( white phosphorus ) Rockets and 1,500 rounds of .30 caliber ammo in the nose all in under 5 minutes. It took longer than that to refuel the plane, which happened while the bombs were being loaded for speed. It would have been a catastrophy if something had gone wrong.

Turn 3
Larry's evident problems tracking the VC allow another tick up in VP's to +3 as increased presence in the country allows more bridge destruction. Multiple attacks by US air on dug in NVA units in the North see little NVA loss but several aircraft shot down.
In anticipation of the imminent arrival of US marines and heavy artillery the NVA 312th and 308th Divisions redeploy in a defensive arc.
Given the issues Larry has with the game settings having borders "off" I have sent him an in game meesage to see if he wants to restart with the borders on...as at least not much of this attempt has been done. If he would prefer to carry on that is fine with me also.

Glad to see you both figuring out how to make this scenario work. AAR + Larry's personal insight makes for a great combination. Really enjoying these threads. Thanks guys.

Here's event number one, where a VC unit moves away from the scene of the crime. He dropped one of my bridges the rascal.

I was moving the arty unit around and found a bad guy. I've brought in some armor and I need some more units yet to get a surround on him.

Turn 5
VC activity continues to be at a healthy level. Just because I could... and to be a pain in the ass a VC unit overran Chu Ngai airbase on the coast forcing lots of pilots and aircrews to make a hasty exity. (I did look out for Larry but he had already left apparently [;)])
I lost a VC unit to US forces in Dinh Tuong but elsewhere all survived to fight another day.
This is more than can be said for the poor ARVN RF garrison at Con Thien near the DMZ which was shelled to destruction from the north.
Air activity by the US remained both busy and largely ineffective.
Surprisingly the 308th and 312th NVA Divisions having dug in close to Khe Sanh do not see the wave of US troops they expected so conserve supply.
Any concerted offensive will need to wait until Cadre units plodding down the Ho Chi Minh trail are ready to go but for now the VC continue to do a great job busting bridges and cutting supply lines in the interior.
VP's tick up to a healthy +5 for the VC/NVA this turn.

Thanks for your kind comments
I am very much a novice compared to Larry (who isn't [:)]) but the scenario is a great one as the sides are so contrasting and there are so many options for each sides strategy. Initially the US side has most of the choices re scale and speed of escalation but I get more later on.
Soon I will get the choice whether to exchange a relatively strong NVA combat engineering unit for more repair capacity on the Ho Chi Minh Trail for example. I am very tempted to take this given how important the trail is for supply.

Turn 6
A VC unity got surrounded and destroyed by a combination punch from US air and Special Forces down in the Delta in Vinh Binh province but managed to down a few aircraft in the process.
All remains calm south of the DMZ this turn as R and R takes place for the 308th and 312th Divns.
More VC infiltration takes place in the central provinces and it seems there is a co-ordinated screening push being made by US troops towards the Cambodian border which I am trying to evade.
Another tick up in VP's takes the current score to +6.
