Variable Initiative

Post by Hyding »

Is there any way to disable variable initiative in games when you are playing against the AI.

I don't know of any but I know that in the past scenario designers have had to resort to work arounds like large (or huge for larger scenarios) exclusion zones full of units just to fool the variable initiative portion of the game engine.

Variable can be an exciting game feature and is widely used in both computer and cardboard gaming. It is a nice feature in mobile warfare scenarios or any situations where tempo and initiative shifted historically. That said it is obvious that scenario designers have felt the need to find workarounds to negate or limit this aspect of the gave for their scenarios involving the PO. It would be nice (important) if scenario designers were able to simply negate this feature if desired. Adding this as an option for the players might be a possibility with the designer making a recommendation might also be an option.

If this options already exists then I apologize and give my hearty thanks in advance to anyone who can tell me how to exercise this option in building a scenario or as a player.
