Any other Axis player having air force activation problems?

Post by EwaldvonKleist »

Playing and practicing T1 under 1.11.03, I have noticed a low willingness to fly of the Axis air force, be it inteception, manual bombing or ground support. Did you notice this as well or is it just distorted perception from my side?

I have air settings as always, air groups are fresh (besides of default T1 fatigue and damaged aircraft) etc.
Below a screenshot of what I feel I see more often then before now, two fighter air groups were 5 hexagons away with range on "*"

Noted something similar in some of my battles lately. In one of them, doing AF bombing I selected 2 fighter groups (around 60 fighters) and 100+ bombers to fly. Got no fighter activation at all. Might just be a coincidence though.

Anything peculiar in data for T1 airfield attacks?

I think I had 5-10 for the tactical recon planes, no limit for the strategic.

I think you need 40 to fly at all - and 40 will only fly one hex, 80 two hexes and so on. It looks like you set the range too low.

@xhoel: Thanks for your comment, it is pretty much what I am seeing as well.
@Telemecus: I know you only replied to a question here but I double checked that the range settings are correct.
When doing somme tests the Axis air force was also unwilling to fly interdiction (yes, I had flown recon before), only the Rumanians moved.

Did you note low activation rates after patching to 1.11.02 or 1.11.03 Telemecus?

I have noticed low activation rates - but not checked if it was just after the patches or for some other reason. So would not be able yet to add to the conclusion.

I have noticed something similar, especially responding to airfield attacks.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

I guess it has something to do with the latest patches. I believe the introduction of the air group range has caused some havoc in the air system but I might be wrong. As far as I can tell, the NR bug was also a result of the new patch.

And what is group range of groups that don't fly? I think some of you set the value thinking it's in hexes while it's in miles to mirror aircraft range parameter. Radius in hexes is given in parentheses after range in miles.

Not in my case. I am aware of that. sPzAbt. 502 had the problem and Tele clarified it.

I meant that introducing the air range feature (Which I'm a big fan of) may have caused some problems with the code. Was not a critic just a thought. In my case was unlimited range.

@morvael: IT has been at "unlimited" in my case.
