Many typos

Post by PhyseterCatodon »

Hey devs,

Fairly often I notice typos in scenario descriptions and briefings. I would like to post these on the forum when I find them to hopefully improve the quality of this great game. Is this something that would be appreciated or is it not on the developers' agenda?

Cheers!

PhyseterCatodon,

Personally, since I certainly do not catch every typo, spelling error or historical inconsistency I would not be offended by any forum member (non-troll type) pointing out something that I had screwed up!

I suspect that when some of my current projects come to fruition there will be things that will need to be fixed.

it would be nice if the editor that is built in had spell check - I usually try to write in a text editor just for that reason - then paste it into the game. But there can be lots of short messages that you type in here and there and it is easier to just type it in the games editor, and then you end up with typos.

I agree though - and as Wayne says post them as you find them, though I would maybe say only for recent ones? or ones posted here in the testing section? The devs don't have much control over what designers do since many of them are just community members, and someone may post one and then never come back and that could get ugly to fix.

Besides adding spell check to the built in editor the other thing I would love to see is some sort of integration with GitHub or BitBucket (generally the ability to pull in a file from the web), then it would be a lot easier to maintain the description files. Even better if the entire scen was on Github. I realize that is probably a bit deep into the nerdy end of the pool but it would be awesome.
