Feel sorta like an idiot

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Feel sorta like an idiot

Post by ErikBruvold »

So been away from SC for a LONG time and back. I am struggling even on the very easy setting to get a win in as the Axis. In the current game I execute SeaLion and was able to fight forward to the Midlands, only to get bogged down with the low supply that you suffer with in UK (or at least I do and perhaps that is the mistake - how would one imporve cross channel supply lines).

Middle east was, as I think it is, a cakewalk with Egypt falling usually about 6-9 months after the AK arrives.

In the East in my current game I grabbed Leningrad and have a decent defensive position but have struggled to push into Moscow (at the gates but that sector is definately weaker than the Soviets and the counter attack is coming) and in Leningrad.

Is this normal or should I be rolling the AI on Easy?

Welcome back. Hope you will join the tournament at the Multiplayer (PBEM and head to head) sub-forum when you get your sea/land legs.

My experience with SC against AI is it takes a couple of play-threws to get the hang on all the nuances (supply, air, command, etc.) before you will be able to mop up the AI at normal.
However, playing against the AI will teach you some bad habits. Humans are much more imaginative, especially strategically. Humans are much better at the Naval war.

For first game you are doing fine.

I guess what you experience is normal.
The AI has been much improved compared to older versions of SC.
Just hang in, play 3 more games, and you will get a more profound feeling of what to do, and how to do it best.
Just think about it like the first SC was a WW1 plane, the SC2 games were WW2 planes, and woo-ho, with SC3 you're suddenly flying a jet fighter. It will take time to adjust, even though you know how to fly.

That's fair.

I watch the AAR's a little , I find them helpful and interesting. It seems the last tournament winner is undisputed but the result of the game for #2 is very questionable in my opinion. Most other games are good.

Good Luck with the new one.

Thanks. Hope you also join our tournament. I get the most out of AAR reports with Sugar and KZ. But all the players that have played a few games have cool strategies up their sleeves
