PT boat availability

Post by plund »

When I check for PT boats and see 16/3/5, what do the numbers mean?

i know that there are 16 currently available, but do not know what the 3 and 5 mean.

Thanks in advance for any help.

As I recall, PTs are built on base with supplies and there is no reserve or pool for them. If so the numbers you're looking at are ready/in maintenance/damaged. In order to make them you must have sufficient supply in excess of regular requirements (don't know how much that is).

There is a pool. It takes supplies to pull from the pool, but the number of PTs available is not infinite.

In 1942 IIRC the max number of PTs is 64 for the US. If some are destroyed I think it takes about three months for replacements to arrive in the pool. If you manually send PTs back to the pools, it seems that distance from the US figures into how long it takes for them to appear in the pool. The idea is that they go back to the US or PH on virtual ships, similar to the way units can transfer between off-map locations without a TF being formed to carry them.

And when you draw the PTs from the pool again, you have to have supply that has been shipped from the US to simulate the PTs being shipped in as cargo.

I thought the "back to the pool" time was fixed at 30 days, but I've never measured it.

For Japan, I have only few days for returning MTBs. Less, than one week, for sure.
