Cargo at spaceports planets etc..

Post by rhjyyz »

Hello.

Been playing game for awhile now. Best out there yet.. Long time Space Empires fan..

OK, I have a question maybe someone can answer for me.

How/why do some planets/spaceports have components in their cargo when not building anything?
i.e. Engines, sensors, fuel cells (anything that are not resources).

I thought it might be the result of retiring ships at said port but I tested this and no components show up after ship is retired.

The only other thing I can think of is when you take over a colony that had been building stuff and you destroy it during the process and they are left over?

Thanks to anyone that can enlighten me.

I believe that you get leftover components at colonies and spaceports when construction projects are cancelled or destroyed before completion.

Aeson,
I see these extra components at spaceports too and don't cancel construction of ships. Perhaps they build a few extra just in case.

It might also be from refits, when you remove/replace older equipment with new. But I'm not 100% certain on this.

Shark7,
That sounds like a good possibility. I wonder if it keeps track of obsolete components so colonies don't store obsolete components forever.

I hope at some point it is breaking them down to raw materials again. Otherwise they are just wasted. I usually have far too many ports to go checking on stockpiles in my games and don't worry about it.
