I like the wargaming aspect and Dunningan's participation. In the conference.

At home buried away in storage boxes I have a two volume history of the 12th SS Division written by the Chief of Staff of the Division.

Can't recall his name, but he also participated post WWII NATO military studies and conferences.

The history was published by Stackpole as part of their excellent Military History Series, many of which were written by former German soldiers.

Highly recommend just about everything in the Stackpole series.

SS-Obersturmbannführer Hubert Meyer. Not to be confused with the CO of the 12th SS Division SS-Brigadeführer Kurt Meyer alias "Panzermeyer".

As somebody who was deployed as an 8th ID artillery support radar tech (Q4s) in Baumholder in 1980, this was rather sobering. Now I know why we spent so much time in the Hohe Rhoen.

"prairie people" shouldnt be used in modern warfare... :) p20...

Very good read ! I was aware they had played a game like this but not the details.

Supposedly, there is another game played in the 90s in USN where one side using 3rd world tactics bested a Carrier battle group but I never found more than passing remarks about how it was done and also if it really erally happened at all.
