Airgroup refitting questions

Post by xalinas2 »

Hi all,

I have a couple of airgroup "refitting" questions, any hints are as always much appreciated:

1) I used to think that airgroups in national reserve "reinforce" most quickly, I.e. replacing damaged frames or filling up empty slots. However, for some bomber groups in reserve available aircraft did not change over consecutive turns. What's the generally accepted approach, put them in reserve or transfer them to the rear, ideally under a leader with high admin score?

2) Same question for fatigue reduction, only that my feeling is that it is much more efficient to place them in the rear for resting.

3) on my second point, because I did not know better, I transfer some German fighter groups to the frozen airbases close to Berlin. Fatigue went down tremendously the next turn but now I cannot move my fighters out of the frozen airbases anymore. Any suggestions?

Many thanks,
X

There is a bug in the latest version which the developers say will be removed in the next patch. So fatigue "should" go down more in reserve but at the moment is not. At least for me I am still getting damaged aircraft repaired more quickly in reserve on average. I am also getting empty slots filled more quickly still - is it possible you did not have enough aircraft in the pool or the right replacement settings?

Currently many are putting aircraft in rear to recover fatigue, but otherwise reserve still to recover morale etc. After the next patch it should go back to always being reserve best..

on the frozen airbases you may have to accept those airgroups are lost - although you can swap their aircraft for older types

Many thanks for the answers, Telemecus!

I was hoping for a different answer for the frozen airbase but at least it was only one full squadron (?) and two of the "Stab"-Squadrons. I do assume correctly that they are just small air units and do not provide any actual "Stabs" (Admin) benefits, right?

Finally, may I ask what you mean by replacements settings?

yes - stab in this case only relates to maximum number n the air group

replacement settings are for each airgroup where you can select
-swap - auto, upgrade only or manual
-replacement yes or no
you can find and change these settings for each airgroup in their unit details or from the airgroups tab of the commanders report
