Getting WitW to run on Surface Pro

I have a desktop but like to take my Surface Pro 3 with me when I travel. I have a Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i5 CPU, 4GB of RAM, running 64 bit Win10.

WitE runs fine on the Surface Pro in Win8 compatibility mode but when I launch WitW (also with Win8 compatibility), it will launch and load a save game but pretty much doesn't work. Maximizing the window results in black screen. Keeping the window at the original launch size allows me to scroll around and select units, but when I try to move them it hangs. Is there some setting that will allow me to run the game or am I just out of luck?
