FITE 2 question

Post by Phoenix100 »

New to this.

Just found a scenario called FITE 2 in the custom graphics folder. Fantastic huge map, super detail, but no indicator whether it's playable against the AI. Can anyone tell me if it has a PO or not?

Thanks.

Well technically you can play against AI but the scebario is designed for PvP.
I tried twice playing against AI and it was a disaster. AI was not capable of handling properly neither attack (Germans) nor defence (Soviets).

Either you find someone who is committed for 2-3 years (not easy) or you can play it yourself as both sides (which is time consuming but at least you play it at your own pace, and it's still a hell of a challange to play as ze Germans).
Plans are worthless, but planning is essential.

I see. Thanks. I wonder what would happen if I just played the Finnish part, either alone (v myself), or against the AI, and ignored what happened elsewhere....The map, OOB and set-up looks great for the Finnish sector - more detail than the other Finnish scenarios I've seen - and that's what really interests me - playing a detailed Finnish scenario. I wonder if I could play Finland and just ignore the rest of the world.....

There is an AI for general instructions and it works quite well, but there is also a PO [Programmed Opponent] that is scenario specific. The AI is hard coded while it is up to the scenario designer to add a PO.

FitE and FitE2 have no PO so you need a human opponent for both. Directive 21 is a Soviet PO scenario similar to FitE so you can play it solo as the Axis against the Soviet computer.

I don't see playing Finland solo against the rest of the world as being a viable option in any scenario [:(]

Not against the rest of the world, no (that reminds me of Hearts of Iron, lol, a game so realistic that Finland might indeed be able to conquer the world...) - I meant if I only moved Finland (and those parts of Russia up against Finland were I to play against myself) then I guess that would work - the AI would move (or not move) everything else and I would just ignore it.
