POPUPS changes

POPUP events have changed a bit and are more powerful and flexible in how they can display information.

For a mod that displays all the options we have this one handy:

Once downloaded it needs to be decompressed and then pasted into your USER campaigns folder, typically found here:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War\Campaigns

From within the Editor and when you've navigated to Edit Event Scripts, there is a new 'View' button that allows you to see exactly how each POPUP event will look in game. This helps quite a bit to determine if you POPUPS will look just right or not.

I see <<TAG_xx>> in the #MESSAGE= part of decision scripts - what is that?

Edit: NM, there is a whole folder of files with these tags in the Events\EN folder.

Good find as this is an optional way to present the texts in the scripts using the TAG setup. Advantage of this setup for us is that it makes localization much easier when translating into other languages.

For example only the TAGs need to change and not the scripts and there is no longer the need for duplicate scripts for each language.
