Schedule for the new year?

Post by HellcatOne »

I know that perhaps it is premature to ask, I would be curious to know some indiscretion on the dlc or standalone scheduled for the new year.
Am I asking too much?

Personally I would like something about the Vietnam War or Korea War.
I saw that some wwii aircraft were added in the last update, will there be others?

We have already announced the first Command-LIVE scenario for this year (King Of The Border), and further projects will be revealed later this year.

Don't want to sound like a hater, but when we gettin' a Tacview (or equivalent) for the civilian version of CMANO? I realize the advanced strike planner probably won't come out in my lifetime, but I would really like to enjoy replays a la Tacview while my ticker is still ticking.

HaughtKarl when are you expecting to die? Perhaps the schedule can be changed to suit. How long do you need to enjoy it?

An easy tacview workaround is to use paper aeroplanes. Colour one red and one blue with crayons and then you can add sound effects for realism.

Tick tock the mouse ran up the clock. Patience is a virtue.

No hate, just facts. Enjoy and expect nothing and you will always be surprised. Expect and you will often be disappointed in life.

When time is short focus on now not what may be.

Kind regards,
Peter

Serious answer, there are still some things that need to be worked on to make tacview suitable for the civilian version. The first thing that comes to mind are missile kinematics, right now calculations start when the missile overlaps with the target regardless of difference in altitude, this would look really weird on tacview with missiles suddenly leaping up or down to connect with the target. There are probably other simplifications happening "under the hood" which you don't notice in the civilian version but would become obvious in tacview.

Am I missing something on Tacview? Why? Other than a "neato" factor, what does it bring to the table? What compelling reason would I have to fire it up, load the simulation, and inspect?

Not trying to be difficult, genuinely curious.

Right now you only get a 2d view of the battlefield in Command. With Tac View you'll get a full 3d view of everything that is going on. This includes ship and aircraft models, its just a much "cooler" way of viewing the battle and might give you new insight on whats going on.

If the devs are putting in time for the civilian version I'd prefer those hours be spent adding operational fidelity improvements over flashy chrome. YMMV

+1

If the devs are porting professional features to the public version (which is a very big if), line of sight tool, full comms jamming model, or even hypersonic glide vehicles are much higher in my list.

Not sure what the panic is over this, it was announced a couple months ago that we will be getting these features. No one has said anything about what has priority only that it is probably coming.

I apologize for coming off like an entitled bratt. I love CMANO, it is one of my most played sims in my Steam library and I fully realize it's a small dev team tasked with an enormous list of to-do's where the things prioritized won't mesh with the things at the top of my Christmas list.

No problem. I've been sitting on certain wish list items for 6 years. And the cool thing is that this game is still delivering on those items after all this time. I just came to the conclusion that when it comes to Command, you've got to be willing to play the long game. [:D]

Top of my list would be the Advanced Strike PLanner, or, at least - at the very least - some ToT planning capability, so you didn't have to struggle to coordinate ToT manually. That would be a great addition, I think. NOt sure if that's even planned though. Not sure if it's in the mil/pro version either.
