DOWing Yugoslavia versus waiting for revolt?

Post by ThunderLizard11 »

Any downside to just DOWing Yugoslavia with respect to US or Soviet mobilization versus waiting for the coup? I'd rather DOW and get it over with so I can get my tanks to the Russian front.

I've DoW'ed the South Slavs a couple of times as the Italians and have not noticed any ill diplomatic effects. I imagine it is the same for the Germans.

I've just checked the scripts and also tested it out in Hotseat mode, and doing this will swing Greece 30-45% and the USSR 7-12% towards the Allies, and doing this also has a 25% chance of moving Turkey 5-10% towards the Allies.

Thanks Bill. Better to wait then.

In my current game, I am controlling the Italians only and DoW'ed Yugoslavia in Jan of 41. They were conquered 3 turns later and I DoW'ed Greece. It took 4 turns to finish off the Greeks.

Turkey was still neutral when the national socialist decided to have a go at the international socialists. I am still debating on DoW'ing Turkey.

The question is if I want to open up another front against the Allies.

I'll probably do it. Just to see what happens.

"better to wait" for what? The only DE I found was Allied to move Yugo towards them. I didn't find a DE that would have a coup or otherwise bring Yugo closer to Axis.
Per my limited appreciation the only hope for Axis vis a vis Yugo is to conquer it.
BTW how many mpps per turn will Axis get if it occupies Yugo?

Well, that's the thing, isn't it? If Yugoslavia goes to the allies, Axis can have their war without risking nudging relations with USSR and Turkey
