Taiwan Blitz Questions

Taiwan Blitz Questions

Post by Tester28 »

Hello everyone. I want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious here. It sure feels like I am.

In this scenario, you use nuclear missiles in an EMP blast against Taiwan. You start with only one unit (of trucks) equipped with nuclear missiles.

1) The nukes have a minimum range of 500 nm, and they start within 500 nm of Taiwan. So they're too close, and they can't attack.
The only solution I see to this is to order the trucks to drive away from Taiwan at flank speed so that within a few hours they'll be far enough away to target everything.

Is this right? It feels kind of silly, but you have plenty of time in the operation to do it, so maybe it's intentional.

2) I wouldn't think the minimum range would matter since these missiles are being burst far up above the ground, not on the ground. They don't need to re-enter the atmosphere and descend. However, so far as I know, you can only launch an attack against an enemy target. Is there some way to set it so I can ignore the minimum range? Alternatively, is there a way to attack a specific point on the ground rather than an enemy unit? Like if I want to pick some random spot of dirt and fire my missiles at that?

I've just checked and all Taiwanese targets other than the radar in Kinmen island (the one next to the mainland) are beyond minimum range of the DF-31.

That's completely untrue in my game. I just loaded the scenario, brand new, and you can see the unit is within its minimum range to all Taiwan targets. The nuclear DF-31A has a minimum range of 500nm, and the unit starts well within that range. This is with Command v1.14 Build 998.4.

I'm not allowed to post links or images since I don't post frequently enough, so if you go to imgur and put in LLSDNHM in the URL, you'll see it.

That fixed it. Updating to 998.18 changed where the nuke unit is, and everything except that closest radar is in range right out the gate. Thank you!
