Partisans

Post by Christolos »

The manual states:
3.6.27. Partisan Locations
To view where Partisan activity can be expected, pressing the ‘P’ key on your keyboard will show all likely partisan trigger points, though only for countries that are currently at war. To prevent Partisans from appearing it will suffice to have a unit in either that hex or an adjacent one. Note, regular Partisan logos indicate partisans that will be added to the map while those shown with a red circle and a line through them represent locations where Partisans will only reduce the strength of resources.

I am seeing situations where partisans are attacking resource hexes in China even though there is an adjacent Japanese unit next to the Resource hex being hit. While the manual specifically states: "To prevent Partisans from appearing it will suffice to have a unit in either that hex or an adjacent one." Does this only apply to preventing partisan units for appearing, or should it also prevent a resource hex from being hit. I believe this is how it worked in SC War in Europe...and the SC War in Europe manual explains it the same way.

Thanks,

C

Those are Chinese Communists Partisans. They are a special damage MPP's only event that happens randomly from time to time. To my knowledge, there is nothing that you can do to stop them.

Thanks, that could be it...but how come there is nothing about it in the manual...or is there?

Chinese Communist Partisans are something that I learned about while beta testing before the manual was written.

These are described as Resistance Activity in the in-game messages, I'll see if they're mentioned in the Strategy Guides, and if not add a mention of them there.

Partisans become very confusing for allies after liberation of Paris. Still show as partisans but is that against axis or allies ? 🤔

There is a color difference as to which side they affect. Since, I forget, I have to compare the color difference of known anti-Axis partisans (in the Soviet Union) with other partisans to remember which partisans affect which side.

I think the color difference is by nationality. It doesn’t help after liberation. Are those guys with me or against me?

French Partisans will be pro-Allied. Partisans have the same political leaning as the country they belong to, so if a country is Allied, its Partisans will be Allied too.

I guess what I'm saying is that

When I press 'P '
I should only see partisans that are against me

Hi EarlyDoors,

Partisans could always be more simply viewed as what will appear if the hex is occupied by an enemy force, so let's say the Partisan indicators in France simply mean where the Partisan activity would be active under occupation, however I do see your point in that it could be confusing nonetheless.

We could make the change to have only the Partisan locations show on the turn where it will impact that side, i.e. Soviet and Yugoslavian partisan locations are shown to the Axis player only, and that is potentially much clearer.

However the only downside is if the Allied player would also like to keep easy track of where let's say the Soviet partisan locations will be as well, they would no longer have this viewable/accessible.

Thoughts?

Well my thoughts are

...why do i need to know where 'friendly' partisan uprisings may occur?

At a tactical level it may be of some use
but at a strategic level i would consider it irresponsible to hold resources to try and support a partisan uprising

If others feel differently, could always have two views - allied and axis partisans
