Dieppe strange scenario

Post by Gavris Narcis »

When playing Dieppe scenario I found some weird situations for which I ask helping me with answers. Here are:

1. For the first time in 3-4 years of playing SPWAW I encountered the message ''gun emplacement suffers near miss by ......gun''.
What's that ? What means ?

2. Many times I receive the enemy bombardement announcement screen but the bombardement didn't have place (only for LCV's).
Why ?

3. Many infantry like units (called Navy Co)can't moving even they are not in defence stance and have movement points. Seems like fixed units, but when firing they have behaviour of gun emplacement (having an arc of fire) and when are fired at and take much supression they turn arround on place and ''waiting to be killed'' not retreating.
What is that strange behaviour ?

4. Did the abandoned vehicles count in the end of the game ? Are they treated like destroyed ones ?

5. I have an armed train on rails with many cars in that scenario but immobile ! How to make moving all that stuff ?

Just a guess, but could you have inadvertantly turned Commmand and Control on? (I mean, are your units waiting for orders?)

Interesting post - will wait to see what you find out.

for question 3:
I think your problem is that the scen was made for an older version of SPWAW and the oobs have changed since then.

and for 4:
I think that unless the enemy leaves a squad in the same hex as it for a turn it still counts as active and no points are given to the enemy

1. I give up??

2.Do you have fast artillery on?

3.Sounds like what Hades said or maybe a resuly of having C&C on and no orders.

4. Abandoned Vehicles count only the damage inflicted on them unless, like Hades said, the enemy occupies the Hex with an Infantry unit for at least one full turn. Then the icon will be called destroyed and not just abandoned.

5.I am not sure but Trains sound like gun emplacements of another name and are not meant to be moved for gaming purposes.

Yes this happens sometimes. The round was very close but didn't hit right on the target. I think it'll add some extra suppression to the unit tho.

My guess is that it's because the scen is made for an older OOB.

Same as no. 3

If the enemy controle the area when the game ends, he'll get the points for abandon vehicles in that area. Also when they're not destroyed.
Moving a unit in to the same hex as the vehicle (and have it stay there unsuppressed for a turn) will permanently destroy it tho and doesn't depend on who's in control in the end.
5. I have an armed train on rails with many cars in that scenario but immobile ! How to make moving all that stuff ?

Leo.

The train is not supposed to be moveable it's more like an emplacement. It's not an ordinary unit, but put here for a purpose I guess.
