Aircraft Launch reading Bingo Fuel

Post by 1nutworld »

Hi Gang,

I'm excited to play through the Desert Storm Campaign, but keep running into issues with aircraft and corresponding load-out leaving me with Bingo Fuel immediately after launch, despite looking at range factors for the load-out listed in the Data Base for the particular A/C.

An example, you ask? sure thing.

C-5 Galaxy with 60 Tons load-out listed in the A/C data base: 4800 nm transport,one-way distance, cruise at optimum altitude and speed, no form-up time 10% reserve

I have launched the A/C from Dover to hop to Iceland, Keflavik AB, en-route to Turkey. Using range and bearing tool, that distance from Dover to Keflavik is 2343 nm.

A/C launch and is immediately vectoring to go to tanker 2343 nm away as 3 minutes after launch: BINGO FUEL.

I'm not the brightest spotlight on the stage but 4800 nm one-way is still more than 3400 nm one-way. Isn't it?

If the AC are on a Ferry mission, I've noticed that they indicate Bingo immediately but they are heading to their new base. Might just be something weird with the mission programming itself

Aircraft may go bingo based on their current speed and altitude. The range for aircraft should increase as they ascend, but they may not lose their refuel orders.

If you're using missions for both the ferry and refueling tracks, a few suggestions:

- Limit the refueling missions that can refuel the ferry mission (click the "Configure" button on the "Tankers (AAR)" line of the Mission Editor to bring up the Tanker Planner window, select "Use tankers assigned to specific missons", then select the refueling mission(s) you want to use)
- Set the "Receivers start looking for tanker when down to x percent of mission fuel" lower, also in the Tanker Planner window of the ferry mission (the default is 60)
- Change the "Airborne receivers can book tankers within..." setting, also in the Tanker Planner window of the ferry mission
- Turn off refueling for the ferry mission
