Pilot and Aircraft Replacements

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

Pilot and Aircraft Replacements

Post by Mac Linehan »

Gents -

Posted in an earlier thread, thought it more appropriate to start a new thread,

Pilot and aircraft replacements set to "Normal"; upgrades to "Manual." Have read (and reread) the rules on the subject; but still not 100 percent clear. My interpretation is that if Pilots and Aircraft replacements are set to "Normal," the game engine will add replacements based on the difference between TOE and actual on map. I have a South African Desert Air Force Mossie PR4 recon who is now at 4 airframes; TOE calls for 12.

Does the Replacements: "Priority" setting affect both aircraft and pilots? Am in good supply with aircraft in the pool; perhaps a few more turns will see a change. I suspect that I will just have to be patient, unless designating a higher (i.e. "Priority" or "Trained"), at least for the pilots. I may be off track...

Thank you for your advice, Gents. Love the game, am a rules reader but experience only comes with time.

Edit: Reread (again) the pertinent rules: "20.6.2. AIRCRAFT AND PILOT REPLACEMENTS" and "20.6.2.1. Air Group Unit Replacement Priority" answers my question. Or at least I think I understand..;)
