Northern Inferno - Eye for an Eye

Not really an after action report because I don't want to provide any spoilers, but after several failed attempts at this scenario, I finally not only didn't fail miserably, I achieved a Triumph!! Woohoo..

It came at the cost of all my aircraft except the 2 tankers and 3 F-4s (all the helos survived). The rest of the Phantoms succumbed to Soviet fighters, as did my SEAD and strike Buccanears, but not after the SEAD planes cleared enough of a path for the strike planes. One strike plane managed to make it to each target and drop it's weapon before being shot down on the way home (not far from exiting the target).

Finally. Practice makes perfect. Of course, in real life you don't get do-overs like this and my real life performance would have been complete failure. I learned a bit each time and this time my (different) tactics worked.

The tension on that scenario is so thick you can cut it with a knife.

Yes sir. I just barely managed it and it was touch and go that the two remaining weapons carriers would make it to their target. One circled around about 5 times evading missiles, before being able to make a target run. Then it was immediately shot down.

Good thing you don't lose points for your own losses in that one
