SEAD escorts on SEAD strike possible?

I've got a mission Land Strike with only enemy radars as targets, I'm sending ARM equipped strikers after them. I'd like to have another group of ARM equipped strikers along but not targeting those radars, rather I hope to have them stand by and engage any SAMs that light up as we attempt this strike. If I assign ARM equipped aircraft as escorts will they do what I'm hoping for?

Use SEAD patrol Mission. Grow, shrink move to meet parameter.
