War In Europe 1939-1945 - Playtesters needed.

Post by Zovs »

Okay I am done with this scenario, the only small bit I want to add it to finalize the Word doc for it, but in the meantime I am soliciting some (at least two) play testers.

The download is big (38 megs), so I'll need to upload it to my dropbox account and then will share that by PM.

Any help is welcomed.

Larry sending you a link to my files in my drop box let me know if you have any issues with downloading or installing it.

Inside the zip is all the files. If you unzip them into the Override folder and then just grab the *.sce, *.doc, *.col I think that is all you'll need to place in the scenario folder of your choice, what I did was to put it in Misc I think.

Does that make sense?

Thanks for you help man!

I thought I'd let the computer play the Axis side for a while and the first thing it did is attack the Poles. Lots of RBC's and fast progress is being made. Also, Axis troops are entering the low countries and Belgium.

Thanks Larry,

I wish we had more exclusion zones to stop the AI from doing that in the Low Countries, I have a house rule for humans not to do so.
Also if the AI puts air on interdiction then those attacks will free up those Western Allied units.
Again not much I can do about that since TOAW interdiction hits exclusion zones and ignores neutrals.

Zovs, you may have this included already, but on your Polish Campaign image above, I don't see the Slovak forces?

Cheers

Bill,

Good observation. In the original game there were none included. I did not include any at this point. I sort of incorporated the Austrians with some of the wave divisions. If I can find some good division level info on them including TOE's I can add them in if it seems warranted.

Anted to quickly chime in and say that I've had to restart this scenario a number of times. I suck really bad. But kt's nice to encounter a game that can offer this. One day I hope to take Poland. Sigh.

The best I have done is in one week., the first turn, but I designed it and feared it would be too easy so good to know its a challenge and replay.

I believe I have shared the link to all that volunteered.

If you would like your name in the final doc send me an email with your real name and nickname.

i"ve only being playing TOAW for a shade over 2 weeks and am still picking up new info every day. Fer example, I've always played with all options turned on. It wasn't until last night that I read that command/control had the powerful effect of occasionally forcing your forces to reorganize. And I had initially wondered why my units were gradually accumulating orange stripes. [:)]

No worries Tom, I use all options on as well, but been playing it since the 90s with the first version from Talonsoft and then COW and then Matrix’s TOAW III.

For this scenario don’t use interdiction until all Allies are at war, the current version of TOAW IV interdiction and neutrals and exclusion zones is broken.

After restarting the game a number of times, I sorta realized I was over my head and decided to watch the computer play by itself. Started a new game and let it do it's thing. W/all options on/selected, the Russians are already in Germany by October, 1939 even as the Germans are attacking Paris (the low countries fell pretty quickly). Warsaw is stubbornly holding out and it looks as if the war will be over by December, 1939.

Weird, the AI must have used the Initiate Barbarossa theater option, I have never seen that before. The Russians are only released when Germany Initiate Barbarossa or turn 97-100 happens, which ever occurs first. In the times when I let the AI run the Germans I have never seen them select the Initiate Barbarossa option.

Could you send me a save from your game so I can take a look?

Also, if you want you have two options, I can setup a PBEM++ game we can run through (not competitive) so you can see how I play the Germans. Or you can try to play both sides solo.

? Let me know and I'll issue a challenge.
