New player looking for a game.

Post by tyronec »

Experienced wargamer but new to this one, have played a few scenarios vs PO.
Would prefer WW2 and a scenario not too big or long, open to suggestions. Both sides reasonably balanced is good rather than one side chasing down objectives. Definitely one that uses the latest rule set.
PBEM or server.
Can probably do a move a day, most days.

Soars high above the clouds;
Meanwhile, the nightingale intones
With sweet, mellifluous sounds.

PBEM or PBEM++ is the best way to learn the game, not necessarily against the PO.

Are you two pairing up to play?

I can create a list of smallish scenarios that are good to play (may not be 100% balanced) if needed.

You used to be able to check the old Rugged Defense site but it's no more. The Blitz lists things for balance but I don't know if is been used over the last decade or not.

A list would be helpful thanks.
The ones I was looking at were:
Kharkov
Crusader
France '40
The lark, signing its chirping hymn,
Soars high above the clouds;
Meanwhile, the nightingale intones
With sweet, mellifluous sounds.

I created a challenge for PBEM++ for the Scenario El Alamein 1942 (smallish scenario 27 turns, with around 200 units a piece) I'll take the Axis and let whoever wants to have a go take the CW (the CW does the first turn and has the initiative), its mainly for fun and hopefully a learning experience for someone (myself most likely).

I put a password on it, so just ask me if interested.

Your welcome Larry, it's not exhaustive and it's mostly just the stock scenarios. A long time ago I think it was at the bliz where you could see the balance of scenarios, based on how submitted results. I was in that group for a while but it becomes to competitive and soon is not as fun when you "have" to play and keep up your score. In 'our' games Larry its fun and we each try to give each other the best we can but its not a chore.

The challenge is mean for either tyronec or tigercub, or no one in particular...

Are either one of you going to do an AAR? I'd encourage you to do that because it'll help you focus on the most important things and not get sidetracked on minutiae. Lots of pictures helps not only your readers but a lot of times it helps the player get a more accurate mental picture of what's going on, especially when I do those cut and paste monster images I produce. The enire front lines from north to south doesn't reveal the entire effort but does hint at the potential hot spots. Detailed images are good for offline terrain studies.

Also, an AAR will give us the ability to supply you guys with hints, and or suggestions for a better way, etc. I'd personally love to keep up with your game. Please.
