AA Multiplayer Compatibility

Post by Kevinugly »

I've checked through the forums and couldn't find the info I wanted. Therefore, will AA:HTTR be totally compatible with AA:RDOA in terms of multiplayer? I ask this for two reasons:-

Firstly, I'm involved in a full campaign game online which, the way it's going, could well be unresolved even by July (which begs the extra point as to whether save games will still work)

Secondly, I've noticed that AA has had its price slashed by a half in UK retail shops and so I was thinking of acquiring a second copy so I could play on my home LAN.

Cheers

Kevin

Kevin,

Thanks for that intelligence about the price of AA in the UK. That's news to me. Do you know when the price was reduced?

AA:RDOA and AA:HTTR will not be 100% compatible. You will be able to load maps and scenarios created for AA:RDOA and convert them in the new MapMaker and ScenMaker so they run on AA:HTTR. Your saved games will only work on AA:RDOA.

Cheers Dave,

Not sure of exact date of price reduction, spotted it thursday in 'Game'. Obviously this might only be them trying to clear 'old stock' but they are the only retail stockist that I have come across in my area.

As regards compatibility, I'm not sure if I'm being dumb here, but will I be able to play multiplayer games AA:RDOA on one system against AA:HTTR on another? Your reply didn't make that clear:confused:

No you won't be able to - the new game will employ very significant changes to the AI, which will mean the games will get out of sync, pretty much straight away I suspect.

Thanks again Dave for taking the time to reply. I was hoping that that wasn't going to be the case. So, just to add another to the list, I wish for a patch to enable multiplayer compatibility (in case you know a fairy godmother with expertise in computer game coding:D ).

Kevin,

It can't happen. The patch that makes this work is the new game.:)
