WIR bug

Post by TDV »

WIR v.3.3 standard 1941 PBEM campaign
01/25/1941

RVGK is filled up by German AFW!
There are 1 x Rec Pz Bn, 4 x Pz Bn, 9 x JpzBn, 12 x Stug Bn
Totally 5 x PzKpfw-IIf, 1 x PzKpfw-IIIh, 15 x PzKpfw-IIIj, 277 x Stug IIIb, 60 x PzJg-Ib, 12 x Marder II.

All Russian cities have changed their names:
Odessa instead of Kiev, Leningrad instead of Pskov, Kalinin instead of Moscow, etc.

Russians have got two extra Shock Armies (88th Army and 89th Army). It’s marked by red colour like the Shock Armies instead of standard colour of regular Armies

Whatever happened is almost assuredly not a bug. Your saved game is corrupted by something, and it sounds/looks like data somewhere in the file got added in throwing the offsets off for the data in the file. For example, on the cities, every single city you posted as replacing another is the city listing that is 2 before the correct city - for example, Kalinin is 2 citites before Moscow. I would bet the other incorrect data is the same way.

As to how it happened, no definite idea. As it isn't a normal occurence (never seen or heard of it before period) I really doubt it is a WIR bug. Now if you could reproduce it, then I would say it is a bug of some kind, but we would need to know how to cause it to identify and fix it. Possible causes could be a computer hiccup causing problems with the data, a virus (doubtful but some viruses may go after files with no extensions randomly), trying to edit the data with an editor, if playing PBEM the file was corrupted in transmission, WIR messed it up when saving it due to an external glitch, etc.
