It is especially difficult to get full screen display on a laptop, so I think I saw advice that players should create a window that just fits inside the screen - i.e. almost full screen. AFAIK, the animation windows should then scale themselves to the same resolution as the window.

Since your laptop's resolution depends on which screen and video chip/video card you bought, no one can give you specific advice from your initial post.
See if you can display your desktop's resolution and the options for changing it. Those will be the "native resolutions" for your screen and video processor. Start with one of them for you window setting -px, -py, -w and see how it looks. adjust from there. I assume you know about switches for the game shortcut.
