Bugs

Post by eidzei »

I've played a couple of games now. I found some bugs or annoying features or smth.

The units are not sorted in any way. This makes deployment harder. I'm quite sure this was not the case with the older games.

Selecting mortar by clicking the unit (not using the list on the left) and firing a target will not let go of the targeting mode at all. Using the list to select mortars can be used as a workaround.

Once or probably twice (I wasn't looking for a bug the first time) it seemed that my units did not get some or any kills in the soldier screen, although there were many. Destroyed tanks and vehicles were totally absent even though I'm quite sure my AT guns did most of them.

Selecting units and moving them does not feel very smooth, I might get used to that though.

There are pauses for a second or two at times.

99% of these are already sorted and a patch is on it's way as mentioned elsewhere in the posts, welcome to the forum and sorry for the issues

That was super fast. Looking forward to a possible patch today/tomorrow? :) because the not saving campaign progress after quitting the game is a little bit of show stopper on progression.

Ok, thanks. A couple more, which hopefully are noted and fixed. Naming saved games is broken in a couple of ways. Not going to describe. Pressing L to change the view sometimes only switches between overhead and one of the 3D views. Info for an enemy unit sometimes tells the status (knocked out or smth for example) and then sometimes it does not unless tried several times and then that piece of information just disappears again. Looking forward to that patch. I was not expecting to note so many obvious bugs in a very short time, though. There's more, for sure.

The L key cycles between 3 different views, top down, and two different default angles. I believe the enemy info changes depending on how much visibility you have to it.

Can you give more detail on save naming please.

Some Bugs:
- I have two monitors and the game map does not scroll on the side where the screen extends when the pointer moves
- When the names of the teams are changed, the new names are not seen in the game
- Unable to access or delete saved games (I think this is already corrected in the patch)

+ the monitor sides is by design to make multitasking simpler, but given not everyone prefers the keyscrolling we may want to add an option.
+ do you mean if you change the squad names in the Solider Screen they don't show in battle?
+ When you say "access' what do you mean? That they don't load?

Cheers

I mean I can't open the saved games screen. Makes me go to the desktop. But this issue is solved whit the patch

"The L key cycles between 3 different views..."

Yes, I know. But it glitched and only cycled two giving the same 3D view for two keypresses. This has only happened once. The info then. If I already have information that a unit is destroyed and it is visible on the map, the info should not disappear. That's dementia.

Save games. I give a new name for my saves usually appending a number or something. Well, try it. While typing in the new name, it does not want to append the number or letter I put in correctly. That I can live with. But every now and then, I'm asked whether I want to overwrite an existing save that does not exist. Not a big problem.

I see enemy troops while deploying mine. Not all and not every time. While in the game, the graphics often glitch in such a way that I can see where enemy is moving, because of some graphic ripple moving through the terrain. And two of my experienced rifle teams couldn't deal with an enemy gun crew in close combat - might be I don't know how to correctly micro those moves in the new game, not sure. I think that used to be easier in the old games. AT guns have suffered from "too steep angle" a couple of times. I can't seem to grasp what's wrong with the angle as it does not seem problematic for them to fire another enemy and the guns weren't deployed on a steep hill.

All units disappeared in the soldier view after a Tunisia campaign game. Nothing there, at all, just blank placeholders for teams.

+ IIRC it saves how you set the camera for the angled views, and so if you set it by hand on both it might look identical.

+ are you running on a non-English version of Windows? Are you running the game in a non-English language?

+ When you say you see the enemy troops at deploy can you provide a save where this is the case?

+ Can you detail more what the "ripple" effect with enemy units is. Obviously we have never seen anything like that.

Cheers

Am I the only one that notices that when you select a unit and give an order, there is no simple way to unselect that unit? I find myself accidentally giving move orders after I already issue them. It feels off but I'm trying to get used to it.

EDIT: I see now that when I changed the settings I was able to fix the above issue. Not entirely clear if the changes I made were related to the "Deselect on Order" or were also related to resolution changes. But I increased the resolution and turned on a few settings and the game both looks and plays much better.

maybe there is a bug with the order engine(I can't imagine how that could be by design) but I was able to completely eliminate it when adjusting the settings.

But still, I find I can't select an individual soldier to see who they are [:(] please fix that in next release. It was one of my favorite parts of the game.

And bring back the old command radius when you press spacebar!

But now that I can issue commands naturally like in old games, I am MUCH happier and am VERY impressed with this new engine. You guys did a fine job. [&o]

I have not set it. Might have done that accidentally. Not very important.

No, Windows 10 Pro, English version, updated. Regional setting is Finnish.
+ When you say you see the enemy troops at deploy can you provide a save where this is the case?

I'll try to attach one.

Well, I guess I noticed it the first time when I enabled the outlines. I thought that the setting might have caused it. I have disabled outlines (were not very pretty) since, but I am sure there have been some pixels dancing around enemy units since.

I mentioned selecting and giving orders was troublesome with some units (especially mortars). I too have "Deselect on order" ticked as it works a bit better, but it is not working consistently. Now the list works differently for mortars especially - are those mortars handled differently in the code? Clicking/selecting and dragging units is not working very well.

i have "show LOS when selected" checked, as i understand this option it means whenever i select a unit i'll get the LOS colored line from a unit? red for blocked, green for LOS, red line starts where its blocked. If thats right its not working because all i get is a red line no matter what unit or where i put the line, 10 meters in front of a unit in clear terrain, the line is always red? Am I mis-understanding something about this option?

Saved games :D :D

I noticed that while I have saved like a dozen times the game always presents me only a couple of saves. That seemed odd. The files seem to be there in the SAVES directory, but there is no way to load them. What is this then? I would have liked to go back a step or two since it seems the Tiger in Tunisia cannot be taken care of with the gear I choosed.

Crashed. Only once so far.

I still see enemy troops while deploying. Have saves. I save before starting a new round. Often times I have already deployed my units. And then save. This makes it easier and faster to try different positions. Is that it? I have not noticed a better time to save.

The walls have holes in them. Near the mosque in Tunisia I found that I do not have to worry about the wall separating my units and an enemy unit. I thought that the german AT rifle dude crawling towards my tank showing through the wall would not make it possible for me to shoot the poor guy, but it did.

To make the product seem a bit more polished I would also suggest going through the texts, which have crap like:

"Unarmored from its predecessors with with modified tracks..." (Panzer IVF1)

"anit-tank rifle" (or smth, did not take a shot)

And more...

And if I get a "major victory" and the enemy fled the battlefield, how come I also get "Not only did your attack fail, but the enemy pushed you back."

My expectations were a bit higher for the pricing. I definitely see going 3D is the right way, though.
