This is where i have my stuff in case i need to reinstall...

1. Ok, from a fresh install, first install the official update:

https://mega.nz/#!XtA2FQoQ!vIYMP95tbSu- ... l_v_QmKni0

2. After you install this, install the Beta update, in the first post click on the "Attachment (1) ". You start the game from a new shortcut on your desktop that says "War in the Pacific - Admiral's Edition (Beta)"

tm.asp?m=3185062

3. After this, install all of the Patch 07 unofficial data scen updates by Andy Mac, those are unofficial but everybody uses them. They are made by one of the devs of the game. Install everything into the SCEN folder, NOT! the default game folder.
https://mega.nz/#!CsInUCgQ!sE_Jr_5_aYTo ... b7x2oi43Pw

4. Now when your game is updated, we can install all the mods.

here are all of the Chemkids maps in a single file, first backup your ART folder (just in case):

https://mega.nz/#!2kwHlSDT!5p9q4xxtR-ut ... _VDl-Vq5BA

5. And for the "Unified Art Mod", also unpack everything in your game folder. If something goes wrong, or you don't like it, just delete the ART folder and copy the backed up back in:

Thank you for this! I just reinstalled after several years and this was great. Perhaps a sticky, mentioning Seabee too?

New to the game ... just purchased and installed it. Do you also recommend the install/update sequence in post 2 above for me too?

WITP Tracker too?

Anything else?

About the Maps, i like to Play with out hexes, but what should i choose...stock or extendend?

And what About this yamamoto Things?
The extended map includes a few more bases around Singapore and between Karachi and Aden. I don't know other details but I know some user developed scenarios like Da Big Babes require the extended map. I am not sure if it will work with stock scenarios since the extra bases are not in the stock scenario database.
The other choice is between "Stacking Limits" and "Few Stacking Limits". The former puts a limit on the number of troops in every single land hex, while the latter only has stacking limits on islands/atolls. If the map PWhex file is updated properly either map will work with any scenario.

If you prefer to play "without hexes", that may just be a matter of using the F6 key to turn off the highlighted hex borders (but there is a thin line left for the border) or adopting a map that just shows the faint dot at the center of the hex.
Just understand that maps have two components - the landscape artwork which the game engine ignores and the data files that the game engine uses to know what is in the hex - road segments, rail segments, hex side geography, hex topography, malaria, cold or temperate zone, stacking limits, etc. You can choose any of the four versions of hex data files (stock or extended, stacking or no stacking) and then apply any artwork that pleases your eye and matches the base locations for the map data.

There are "Read me" files for the various map versions out there that explain what to do to install them in your art folder. Just make sure you make a backup copy of the art directory before changing anything.

I would not recommend the chemkid maps for a new player. They are beautiful, and eventually they can be a nice enhancer, but there are problems. Among other things, you can't always tell the difference between deep ocean and shallow, which really makes a difference for submarine ops (among others). Similar issue with Swamp and Jungle. Does it matter if you are defending or moving through one vs the other? Yes. Can you toggle the text which tells you the difference? Sure, but that's just one more thing a new player should not be having to worry about, especially since all that's needed to see the difference is the Mark-1 eyeball when using the standard map.

Edit: When it comes to the AI and database enhancements, the Patch 07 update is much better than "as-delivered", and certainly good enough for a starting player, but there have been additional improvements and more small scenario options to choose from.

Thanks! Will hold off on that one then (for now).

Thank you for this! I just reinstalled after several years and this was great. Perhaps a sticky, mentioning Seabee too?

Just to emphasize, but Seabee is pretty much mandatory for new players. Getting AE to work properly in Windows 10, to say nothing of figuring out all the esoteric switches needed for even basic functionality (which are different from one system to another), can be an absolute nightmare.

Seriously - unless you are a masochist, you need this utility.

Ok. Sorry guys. I too am having to install from scratch again. I understand all the great clear instructions above, but can I ask - is the 'official' beta (1126a) not needed between 1124 and the 'unofficial' beta (1126b)? Thanks.

It is not needed and it is not official either. 1124 is the last official patch.
