Sides or Countries?

Warplan is a World War 2 simulation engine. It is a balance of realism and playability incorporating the best from 50 years of World War 2 board wargaming.

Sides or Countries?

Post by Omnius »

I wasn't a fan of Strategic Command, thought it was really pathetic - especially the Artificial Ignorance. Never bothered with SC2.

My burning question is whether we can play a side like Axis or Allies or if we're forced to play a single country and have to put up with annoying Artificially Ignorant allies? I hated every game where I'm forced to play a single country and put up with clueless AI allies. I hope Warplan will be different since it has multihex combat which is more like the old AH & SPI board games.

You can play a whole side. It is closest to World in Flames. There is multi-hex attack. From what players have told me many older wargamers like the game a lot. it is a pure wargame and not a single click game like Order of Battle or Unity of Command. Many people have told me it has an an old wargame feel. Sadly I can't code in that new wargame paper smell.

Alvaro,
Thanks for the answer, sounds like a game for an old grognard like me. No need for programming in new wargame paper smell, I like the old school boardgame feel much better. I'm still waiting for WiF to get more finished but a good comparison. I'm glad you'll add in a Pacific Theater and I imagine the whole world like WiF.
