Smoke Grenades

When Setting a smoke screen with smoke grenades, how do I tell which way the smoke plume will blow? Does it always go from south west to northeast?

Bob Dylan has the answer.

Yes -- wind (and smoke) direction is fixed in TBF so you know it will always orient to the northeast.

It looks more like a small camp fire than a smoke Grenade

Speaking of smoke grenades: we should be able to throw smoke grenades as well into areas without LOS (e.g. tossing one over a wall, ridge). Because it really contradicts the use of smoke when I already have to crawl into LOS of an area where I do not want to expose myself...
