Scorched Earth Policy

Post by MOS96B2P »

In my drive to the Baku oil fields the USSR is using a scorched earth policy and destroying the logistical network (railroads). After I occupy an area for two or three turns the railroads have automatically repaired. However I now have an area I have occupied for about seven turns and the railroads are not automatically repairing. This is upsetting my operational General Erich von Manstein 9-9-6. [:D] Any ideas why the railroads are not automatically repairing in this area? Screenshot below.

Also cool mod for the round air counters. Thanks @Hairog [:)]

pure guess: the area is not connected to a controled RR to the west, in the Crimea.

Wait until you take Baku.

That takes forever to repair.

I found this out the hard way. The easy oil, it turns out, is in Iraq and Persia from the logistical standpoint (if you can get there.) It takes so damn long to get the Caucuses oil fields up and running.

I know what this is.

Rail repairs when next to a rail line of supply 9.
The weather is causing the damaged rail line at the port not to repair. It is a small bug because it should repair the port rail line.

It should be repairing the port regardless of the condition 1st then it can spread out.

Thanks for spotting this.

Thanks. Good to know. I'm keeping an eye on the oil count on the production panel to monitor changes as I occupy oil fields.
On a future play through I'll probably try getting at the persian / Iraq oil fields through Turkey and/or North Africa.

Thanks for the reply. Seems you were correct and that it was caused by a small bug. Very happy to see we have a developer who monitors the forum, is responsive to customers and continues to support/improve his product. Very cool.

Thanks for continuing to improve a great game.

In the mean time this will just be handled as another operational challenge to be solved. Guderian will punch through on the Stalino / Rostov axis and open up a logistical network from the north. Then Manstein will get his trains........... [:D]

OTOH, the nice thing about taking Baku is it activates the Turks.

That gives you all the anti partisan units you will need to hold the ME oil fields. (The Turkish army is useless for anything else. It doesn't even have the manpower to fully flesh out all its units. I tried pouring a ton of production to beef it up and ran out of bodies before even half of it was up to speed. Which makes me think that conquering Turkey is pretty easy, unless this is different for them if they are invaded.)
