Possible Air Unit range bug

Post by Michael T »

See pic below. The air unit (circled in red) escorted the UK bombers to the battle hex. But the distance is 7 hexes. The range of this air unit is 6 hexes. Am I missing something?

While on this subject. There is no way that French air units should be escorting UK bombers. Didn't happen and could not happen in the early war period.

One of the "Advancements" is for escort fighters. I've not messed around with this particular advancement (still learning land warfare) but I think range is increased with it. Maybe this fighter unit received an automatic upgrade to the range advancement?

I'll check it out. In some cases in the game I use euclidean distance instead of hex distance to vastly speed up processes. I use it in spots where it really doesn't make that large of a difference. But it should have chosen a closer escort just looking at the map.

Euclidean distance is not a good measure for the player when he can only count hexes to check ranges. If you are going to use Euclidean may I suggest the addition of range circles for Air units when selected. Otherwise we are guessing.
