Russian units

Post by ncc1701e »

Three more questions:
1. Is it possible to promote Russian units to Guard status?
2. Is it possible for Russian to buy division size units?
3. If the answer is yes for question 2, is it possible to create artillery division?

Thanks

Find your best units with the highest experience, and rename them guards, lol. And give them promotions for good measure. The existing game mechanics make any kind of cherry on top of this redundant. You have "guards" units already, or can get them. Any power can create elite units.

I like the idea of Soviet artillery corps, though.

The division size unit for the Soviets is the small army, more or less. This is because I suppose the real life Soviet rifle division was undersized by western standards. The actual effective Soviet equivalent to a western division was the late war rifle corps, which is about what this small army represents.

Soviets don't have a burning need for ant units, and they can well afford to buy small armies if they want garrison troops.

You can re-name a Soviet unit to Guards. But no promotions other than assigning specialist ability (elite, engineer etc.)
Only a Marine Division.
So, no artillery divisions.

OK thanks. Yes, I had already asked about the possibility to rename units, so I can do my "Guard" promotion myself. Just willing to know if the game itself is doing it.
For artillery, yes Russian have done some unit size unknown to any other nation engaged in WW2.

Both would add some flavor imo.
