RESOLVED -- Program won't launch

Post by Zacktar »

I bought and installed the game through Steam (and many thanks for the 50% discount, by the way ), and when I try to launch it, it silently exits with no visible indication that anything happened except for the launcher program showing up in the task manager list for a moment.

Things I've tried:
-- verify the files through Steam, it reports everything is OK
-- launch Command.exe from the local directory; it shows a loading screen with a rotating globe and an error message saying that the Steam client isn't running (it is) and that the game will now exit
-- launch Launcher.exe from the local directory; it exits silently
-- check that the "prerequisites" have been installed; they are (although some report that a newer version is already present)
-- set Steam.exe, Command.exe, and Launcher.exe to run as administrator; Steam complains about being in compatibility mode, but otherwise no change
-- look for logs to upload, but there don't seem to be any. My logs directory contains only a file called ExceptionLog.txt that seems to refer to running CMANO in 2018 (I'll upload it if it would be helpful)
-- reinstall the entire program, no change
-- try it on another computer, no change

Any ideas?

Hi,

Can you please give this build a go? (see attachment)

To use it, unzip on the CMO installation folder, overwriting the existing Command.exe.

Let us know!

Tried it out and got the same results. Trying to launch from Steam exits silently. Launching the new Command.exe from the directory shows the loading screen with the error message about the Steam client not running, and then exits. Nothing in the logs directory. [&:]

I launched the game with "Run As Administrator" and that solved the issue.

Thanks, IPWinsor. I tried launching both (the updated) Command.exe and Launcher.exe by right-clicking and picking "run as administrator" and got the same (lack of) results as before.

Just got an update through Steam that resolved it -- I can play by launching Command.exe. Thanks!

How? If i try and run the .exe directly the splash screen pops up then a steam error comes up and back to desktop.
