Sept '39.
Poland and Denmark have fallen.
The German subs sortied and one got sunk, nearly got a carrier for it.
Some air scrapping on the French border.

The lark, signing its chirping hymn,
Soars high above the clouds;
Meanwhile, the nightingale intones
With sweet, mellifluous sounds.
Enough of Stalin, Freedom for the Ukraine !
October and Axis take Luxemburg.
Otherwise quiet apart from the air war which continues full throttle.

Losses are similar to the game with Michael, though in that game he is managing to get a little more strategic bombing in.
It looks like the Allies can soak off just about all the German production with an aggressive air war in the early game - both sides have around 200 production so if Allies can get a 1:1 kill ratio that should do it.
The slightly superiority of the Axis fighters doesn't seem to make much difference so the advantage is with the extra two fighters on the Allied side.
Maybe the counter for the Germans is just to pull back from the border and let the Allies have free hits with all their bombers ?

All quiet during the winter, just the occasional naval skirmish and a bit of bombing.

I thought long and hard about sending a British unit to Amsterdam but in the end concluded that it was a risk and at best would only save Netherlands for one extra turn.

Then all quiet until May (apart from the usual bombing by the Allies).
Belgium invaded, pretty well wiped out in one turn, just two units left.
Yugoslavia invaded.
Will see how long France lasts, am not expecting much !

Germans didn't advance too far this turn, manage to kill a rifle corps in counter attack.
Germans are up to Belgrade, not sure how long Yugoslavia will hold.

France is weakening, have to start disbanding air units. The Maginot line is breached where I had thinned out the defenders. Did manage to kill an infantry corps though.
Yugoslavia. Germans working their way around Belgrade, I disband the air force.
Denmark. There was a port free so try a wee counter invasion, with the Germans busy elsewhere may cause them some annoyance.
Sorry about the image, had to crop it.

France. Defences are getting thin, had to disband my last fighters. Did manage to kill two infantry corps this turn, going all out to do some damage before the surrender.
Yugoslavia. Kill a Panzer that had advanced too far, had to disband the HQ to fill up the armies.
Denmark. Causing some chaos.

At this point Fusilier conceded.
Axis are not far behind but I think there is a snowball effect and it is hard to recover from an early setback.
Thanks for the game and wishing you more success next time.
