Disbanding the German Navy and some other questions.

Post by sfbaytf »

Is it worth it to at some point disband some German naval units and recoup the manpower and resources? At some point I would think they will be overwhelmed by the Allied navies. At the start they are probably useful for raiding and if you're going to attempt to invade England. I don't know how smart and aggressive the Allied naval AI is so maybe they are more useful than I think.

After 1942 and 43 and beyond I was thinking of disbanding them if I could use what is recouped in disbanding to buy more airplanes, divisions or support...

Ground units can purchase specialties like engineering. Does that last all game? I assume if the division is completed destroyed it goes away? Can a division have more than one specialty. If 2 divisions or more with specialties make a combined attack do the different specialties get applied?

You could but every ship you disband allows the Allies to disband their ships. They serve more of a threat to keep the Allies in check.

Alvaro is right. Every ship the Germans keep is one less that the Brits can move to the Med or the Pacific when that comes. Also they could be used against Artic Lend Lease convoys which provided the Red Army with vast motorization.
