Fleets in Port

Post by Michael T »

@ Alvaro, do fleets stacked in a port with friendly ground units provide ground/bombardment support to the port hex if it is attacked by enemy ground units?

Thanks, do you think a message could be added to the combat report indicating what ships or naval units added support.

This question sat unanswered for over a day. You commented on stuff before it and after it. I get you miss things. I understand that.

But when you do miss stuff what can I do other than keep refreshing the post?

@Alvaro, I did a few tests in relation to fleet support of ground units. Below are a few points and a request or two.

1. My tests indicate that fleet support make a difference to ground combat when they are in the same *non* port hex.

2. My testing cannot confirm that fleets *in* a port help the ground units in the port. Can you check this please Alvaro?

3. Could you add information in the Combat report of fleet support for attacker and defender, just like you do for air units.

Thanks

I can do something like that. I'll check the ports. Sometimes posts get marked read on my end and I miss them. Now I also check the date. Sometimes I miss those too. It is nothing personal. Only one person I purposely ignore posts from, my wife.

Oh I'm sorry I didn't see the 84 item grocery list you texted me while I was at the store getting my 1 item. I couldn't hear my phone from all the noisy customers.

The answer is yes they can support units from ports. I almost took it out. But if a player wants to keep their fleet that close to the front without air support they run the risk of the fleet being sunk.

Alvaro,
Is Michael's observation true? Do fleets off the coast participate in ground combats near that coast? If so, is this for attacking, defending or both?

Thanks,

The fleets have to be in the same hex as the land unit and ports count.
