Fighter Air unit Experience

Post by Justus2 »

Has anyone else noticed something strange w/Air Superiority group experience? I am still in my first playthrough under 1.00.3, after fall of France, and while most units have gained 3-5% exp (including my Tac bombers), my Air Superiority groups have all lost 3-4% experience (the units that started at 79% are at 67% and 66%, and the one of the units that started at 60% is at 56%). Seems strange compared to everyone else. I could understand if it was a replacement effect, but I havent taken heavy figther losses, they've mostly been used in support role, and I conducted a heavy bombing campaign against the French air force in the fall. Makes me wonder if it's a simple formula error somewhere, or if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.

Fighter units take horrendous losses in a single turn since the patch. My guess is it's due to massive losses and the replacement system. Just a guess though.

Disagree about "massive" losses.

I'll check two of my ongoing MP games, don't think the losses were as horrific as you claim.

They are just losses. My first reaction is that your over reacting to the change. Or your just number crunching too much. I don't know. Just let em fly.

I'll admit air losses are higher. But its really not that bad, you just have to compensate for them.

Its August 1940 and France is looking for Peace.

The UK, France, Belgium and the Netherlands combined have lost 164 air points and the Germans have lost 124 (this is against the UK, France, Netherlands, Belgium and Poland).

To me this is acceptable. The Allies even did a surprise amph landing in the low countries after I took it but I wiped out the UK unit and reduced the French unit which will surrender next turn.

Here is a screen shot of losses from that game.

I still think some folks are over reacting to certain things and not trying to find ways to over come or deal with things.

In my opinion.

I'm not complaining about the fighter losses, as I mentioned, if that were the case it would kind of make sense. But I haven't lost that many fighter factors (only 52 air factors total, and the majority of those were from the Tac units bombing French airfields). This shows the four starting fighters (and one I just built) and their current XP after the fall of Paris, compared to the starting XP. My Tac bombers and CAS all increased in XP, even with greater losses. Same for my Panzer units. Seems like the air-air XP formula is calculating wrong.
