Map mod help

Post by demyansk »

I was trying to install the kamikaze map for the game. For some reason, the map files are not recognised in the art folder in the game. I can't figure it out.

Can someone check this out? Do I just drop the new files into the Art folder?

This one?
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4268822

They are map tiles and you drop them into your art folder and they will overwrite
the existing tiles. Make a backup first.

They need to be out of the folder when you drop them.

I downloaded both and took a look.

They are all Hex tiles.
In you preferences make sure your map style is set to play with hexes.

In the stock map there is an option so read the Kami1 read me text.
You should delete one of those tiles.

One is an extended map so you will need the extended map data when you run it.

Yup, as Trugrit states, all you need to do to install a "map mod" is override the existing files in the Art folder. Looking at the Kamikaze stock map one for instance, when you open the rar or zip file, just put the contents of the kami2 folder inside the zip into the ART folder in your WitP root directory.

Keep in mind that if you install the "extended version" (the one I use exclusively for MP matches), that you will need to install the updated pwhex files and such as well. You can install the extended map art, but without the additional files needed, the map will still operate like a stock map and locations will be a little bit off.

You can get the extended map files at THIS LINK

Keep in mind from the link above, you do not need the art files, just the pwhex data files (instead you would use the art files from the kamikaze map mod). Regarding the PWHEX files in the link above, there are various options: options to have an extended map with stacking limits for hexes or not, options to even put stacking limits in a stock map setting, etc. You do not need to install the "new asia roads" unless you desire. Be sure to read the webpage carefully before installing. Always install such mods to a new, copy of your WitP folder on the desktop (not your original install location).

You can't just drop the folder in the art folder. You have to unzip it or double click and open the folder and manually copy the files over to the art folder....GP

Yes, you need to use a zip program like WinRar to open the downloaded file, in it youll find a folder named "kami2" etc. You need to the open this folder and put its contents directly into the ART folder. To confirm this, just look at the names of the files in kami2 and match them up with the names of files already in your ART folder. These are the files that will be replaced.

Make sure that you un-zip into the top level art folder. If you do you will get the replace file with same name message. Or whatever it says....GP

Also check that your are using the right setting for hexes on and off. In the art file there are two kinds of map panels. The WPEHxx for use with the hexes setting on and the WPENxx for the hexes setting off. xx is the map panel number. Some map mods don't have hexes and vice versa....GP
