Editing the Units

Post by eddieballgame »

Attempting to learn how to use the 'Editor'.
I was wondering if there is any way to edit/mod the in-game units.
I am interested in creating more types of aircraft, if it is possible.
This particular era has been neglected per the air combat which has many board game simulations but nothing equivalent for the pc.
This is very sad, imho; considering how much has been documented per the great aces & their recognized impact on this particular war.

Hi Eddieballgame,

Thanks for your interest in the game and in further modding.

Unfortunately the unit set is limited to what currently exists. While they can be modified to a degree, adding additional aircraft types is not currently an option.

Hi Hubert,

as a player of all Strategic Command games I am somehow disappointed, how OP ART is, special in how many times they could fire ....

so for a fast fix, I want to reduce that they only could have 4 shots per turn max, instead of 10 ...
could you please tell me, where I could find that !

It ruins the fun for me, if there is such OP unit in that game

Thanks

So want to change MAX SHELLS to 4

Hi

If you open the campaign in the Editor, go to Campaign -> Edit Country Data -> Edit Combat Target Data.

Then select Artillery from the second column, and reduce the Max Shells figure in the top right. You'll have to do this for every country that deploys artillery.

Ok, Ok again, and then File -> Save As to give your modded campaign a new name.

That said, under what circumstances are you finding artillery to be overpowered? Is it early in the game or late, and with what experience and/or research levels attained?

Thanks

Bill

Okay found it in the Editor ...

HAVE BEEN all ART the same for every nation, as I used that COPY TO ALL feature ?

Now all nations have only 4 shells for ART and HEAVY ART (could someone build one ? Don't think so )

Hi thanks Bill,

it was late game,

playing a game as central and no changes to settings APART !!! with soft unit typ building ...

that Allied AI built lot of ART and all of them have been after a short time 13 Art and even had the feeling it shot every turn 10 times with each ART ...

so it was late game, when that madness started ... fortification didn't matter anymore , he killed 2-3 units every turn from me , but I have done the same, but it was terrible boring , so I stopped my game ...

maybe I have to use that HARD set limit for units ... but anyway that 10 times shooting killed alway a full entrenched unit ...
