Scen 4: Rockstar Calling, Are you supposed to go rogue?

Shifting Sands traces the history of many Arab-Israeli conflicts: from the sidelines of the Suez crisis, through the lightning Six-Day War, the guerilla-like War Of Attrition and the strategic surprise of the Yom Kippur War, all the way to the historic Osirak raid and the epic air battle over the Bekaa Valley

Scen 4: Rockstar Calling, Are you supposed to go rogue?

Post by Eboreg »

So... I just played "Rockstar Calling" and just as I was sending a proper strike to take out the Israeli MTBs, I got a message from my superiors to recall all of my strikes and soon after got another message discussing how LBJ was willing to essentially throw the crew of the Liberty under the bus to not poison relations with Israel. Now, I'm an obedient little boy and I was willing to follow my orders even if it meant abandoning those good sailors but I ended up only getting 90 points for an Average result. Was I really supposed to disobey those orders and just continue to aggressively attack the Israelis?

First, prior to the recall message, I shot down their Elint aircraft and dropped bombs on the offending boats. After response strike was recalled, the Israelis launched a massive attack on my carrier group, after which I was authorized to take out their airfields. I have tested this and if you don't do initial damage and piss them off, they don't attack the carrier and you don't get orders to retaliate. The key here is that once you get the initial message that the Liberty is under attack, you must immediately send bombers/fighters/tankers and strike their patrol boats/elint before the recall order is received.
