One request for road cleaning script

I have a road looks like this:


Once I generate the map and use "connect-lines" script (fb.asp?m=4574969) then map looks like this:

This "step-like" road network looks ugly and I think this might influence on mobility of vehicles. So...

I wish to make a map looks like:


Is their any script to make road more of combination of linear + 45 degree diagonal angle, rather then "step-like" road features? If there is, can anyone share it?

We thought about making a script like that in the past, but in the end our map designer wanted to draw the road network by hand. That's why an improved road algorithm was never developed.
