Caspian & Black Sea Convoys

Post by aspqrz02 »

It doesn't seem to be possible to set up convoys in either place *except* by using 'Invisible Convoy' markers (I presume these work?) ...

The terminus of the 'Persian Corridor' was at the Ports of Bandar e-Shah (230, 25), Nowshahr (225, 22) and (I think) Pahlevi/Kazan (222, 25) on the revised 'historical' map I am working on ... and supply travelled onwards from there by ship on the Caspian to, I presume, Baku, Krasnovodsk and Astrakhan.

Can it be made possible to represent this by allowing the placement of actual Convoy markers in the Caspian ... and would Russian shipping then be able to use them, or would I have to add Persian/Iranian merchantmen (I've done this, giving them a nominal 5 points).

Here is the deal. If you setup a convoy to Russia the system will use the shortest route. Which means only the arctic. I favored that because the southern route was so little in value compared to the North and shipments via Vladivostok were much more than either of these 2. This is represented in events.

You can setup an event based on the ownership of certain hexes that the shipments get through via the southern route.

The invisible convoys are just that to get around the map without loops and more complex code.

I have set up a RR line connecting Bandar e-Shah and Krasnovodsk (the port opposite Baku) and then, instead of having the RR line running SW from there to the map edge *terminate* at the map edge, I have run a RR line N along the map edge, skirting the Aral Sea, and connecting to Siberia and walled the latter stage off from the rest of the map by Alpine hexes which prevent it supplying the hexes to the west and with Mountain hexes along all the RR line hexes to prevent it being used as a tactical movement corridor.

I will label this 'Persian Transport Corridor'

I presume this will still act as a convoy *connection* but will be too long to nix the Arctic convoy? It's approximately 115 hexes from Bandar e-Shapur to the Urals by this route?
