1941 PBEM with Wir 3.3

Post by matt.buttsworth »

My oppenent has tried to start a game of PBEM Wir 3.3 with me for a 1941 very long game. He cannot get it going. I have now tried on my version and it does not work on that either.
No password is asked for at the beginning of the game and the game is a game of standard 2 player Wir.
Has anyone solved this problem? What should we do to get PBEM going again?
This problem does not occur with the 1942 version of Wir 3.3 and I also tried it with Possum 6 Wir loaded into Wir 3.3 and had no problems. So it must be something to do with the scenario files.
My opponent is going crazy as he has spent hours on it so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help.

Matt,

I believe the problem can be solved by opening the obwir scenario through the editwir program with WIR, and then saving it. That should solve it, although I don't know why it has this problem in the first place. I don't even remember who figured this out, but it was a good fix.

Thanks Rick. I have tried the procedure and it works perfectly.

You are very helpful as always. These game versions would barely function without people like your's advice.
Excellent.
And now on with the game.

My pleasure to help, but it really goes to whoever figured out the temporary fix. Just too bad it went out corrupted, but I never tested the PBEM mode on the scenarios, never thought anything would go wrong with them.
