Not sure if anyone here has an answer but I thought I'd try:

I just now had the strangest phenomenon on my computer. All the desktop icons had green checkmarks. I googled for an answer and most of the answers were that OneDrive causes it. However, I am not signed in to one drive. What do the checkmarks mean and can one drive cause them if it isn't signed in?
