Best idea of 2019

The end of 2019 is now rapidly coming to an end, but I doubt there will be any game in 2020 that will match WarPlan when it comes to the combined effect of depth and ease of play.

I converted to WarPlan from Strategic Command, and even though there are pros and cons with both, the combat system and reduction of the stacking problems of the latter, will probably see me stay with WarPlan.

There's one aspect of the game, however, where I think an addition could speed up playing time and reduce the number of mouse clicks even further – that is in the reports/units list. Earlier I made some proposition that it would be handy if one could change the name of units from there. But suppose it was also possible to do all the changes that are available when you click on the unit itself?

As of now you click the unit and two boxes appear (if you play with details ON). Wouldn't it be very expedient if the same was true when clicking a unit name in the Reports/units list? Then one could sort the units in any way desired, and change the things very fast without having to go in and out of the list.

Presently you spot a unit of concern in the list, then search and find it on the map, do the changes, and then return to the list through the main panel, click yourself back to the units list, then sort units again, until you're back where you left off. A tad tedious, as was the sentence describing it.

If possible to make the addition I propose, it would be nice if the details/order boxes would appear to the right of the reports box, but even if they landed briefly on top of the reports, the possibility to make changes/give orders from the list would speed up things dramatically.

Hopefully, it wouldn't be so hard to change, since all these things are there anyway and only have to be displayed in two different ways; we wouldn't want it to come at the price of new bugs. It would also be very much in line with Alvaro's philosophy of a very streamlined game.
