Anti-submarine warfare

How do you kill subs in the open ocean? It looks like they can only be attacked by ships and aircraft if the sub is adjacent to land. Are convoy escorts the only way that subs can be destroyed? How are convoy escorts generated?

If the sub is in raider mode then all you can do is hit then with CV's or LBA. But you will mostly not detect them. IDK, maybe 1 out of 10 attempts will succeed in killing a couple of factors. Mostly I rely on Escorts to do the job. You need to build Escorts, they are under the support tab in the Production screen.

how well detected the fleet is affects the aircraft detection on the fleet to actually hit them.

so when a fleet/sub is next to your coast, they will i believe be high recon, and be easier to hit.

open sea's needs long range electronics aircraft, and carriers with poor chance to hit.
