Uninstalled. AI cheats.

Post by Syphax »

The AI simply takes less damage and deals more damage after 6-10 turns into the game. Even low morale Russian units which previously saw a 1-4 advantage to a german unit are now 1-1 or 1-2. Them attack suddenly deals 1-2 damage. French units idem, dealing 2-3 damage against defending and entrenched units.

This only happens after a number of turns into the game and where it's obvious that the AI needs that "little extra help" to keep float, by adjusting the stats.

I uninstalled this frustrating game and lament having wasted money on it. Luckily it's my first in this series so I won't be buying any of the others.

Hi

Could it be that the enemy have attained level 1 or higher in Trench Warfare research?

This will reduce the casualties they suffer in combat, and is quite likely within the first few months of the game.

There are potentially some other reasons, i.e. the enemy now have better/more HQs commanding their forces, or that the difficulty level has been changed as that can provide experience gains to the AI that will reduce their casualties.

I can assure you that there is no cheating going on behind the scenes to fiddle the combat results. Anything like that would be self-defeating, as no one would then enjoy the game, and all AI bonuses are fully visible via the Options screen and can be edited while you play.

It is definitely that the AI places a high priority on entrenchment tech.

My experience was the opposite of yours. As I improved my command rating and NM and their NM dropped, my troops became super powerful and were able to attack entrenched enemies with ease. The game became too easy.

You're probably probably experiencing low National Morale which has a crippling effect on the power of your troops.

Supply can also be a factor, attachment to HQs, strength of attached HQs etc. can also all apply.

Hopefully the original poster would be up for reading the very handy Strategy Guide as well as asking a few questions here in the forums, due to the very helpful group we have here, as it would be a shame to walk away from the game after a less than desirable play through (being new to the series and game mechanics).

Quite! The mechanics can be confusing if you're not used to them, but once you get the hang of the system it becomes very comprehensible...

Sure you think this, but don't give so easily, there are too many other valid reasons for what you think you observed. Please don't ignore these other possibilities and simply blame the AI's programming. Everything deserves at least two real attempts, and if you don't notice ANY improvements at all, then you're probably not ready for such an addicting game...lol! Wishing you better luck next time!

I could understand if you thought that at the highest level, some of the very best players had found some exploit that had unbalanced the game.

But the AI? The AI is too tough? Really?

Maybe you need to try a little harder, and not give up at the first sign of trouble. If the AI owned my butt, I would take it as a slap in the face, and dedicate my life to beating it, not tuck my tail between my legs and run while claiming the game was unfair.

C'mon buddy, give me reason to believe in the human race.

You can do better.
